Take Control Books Anniversary Deal

from space video distribution to Mac computers

Take Control Books is celebrating their 20th anniversary with all their books just $5 each through October 26. 2-23. Their e-books are well executed deep (but accessible) dives into various topics, with a heavy Apple focus. When you buy a book, it’s like a subscription. The books are updated as the subject changes. So, for instance, if you buy Take Control of Sonoma, there will be several updates to cover new features that come out over the life of the current macOS version. The current version of Take Control of Apple Mail only covers through macOS Ventura and iOS 16 right now, but there will be a free update available by the end of the year including Sonoma and iOS17.

Occasionally, after a major revision, you’ll have to pay for an upgrade if you want the latest version of the book, but you’ll always have access to the version you bought/have downloaded.

Not all of their books are Apple-related. In fact, as part of the Anniversary special they are giving away for free Take Control of Thanksgiving Dinner.

This is not a paid endorsement or anything. I have respect for a lot of the authors, how Take Control operates, and a good impression of the quality of what I’ve purchased over the years, though I like the idea of e-books more than the actuality and tend to collect more than I actually use. But I think some of my readers will find a good fit with some of these books.

On a separate topic, Apple today released a new set of software updates for most devices today, October 25, 2023, essentially adding a few features that didn’t make it into the big releases from last month. I don’t advise rushing to install these, but it’s probably fine if you do.
